As you can see I've made significant changes to the "ENVO Flex" e-bike. I bought a floor demonstrator to save a few dollars. In a year, the controller shorted.
The manufacturer/retailer decided it would be a good idea to store the controller in the hollow tubing of the body, near the folding point. Not brilliant: the wires rubbed against the inside and became exposed, and shorted out the controller. Over time I've developed some expertise in repairing and upgrading the vehicle.
Note: The main function for this it to help my spouse commute. She doesn't drive and she's too timid to ride by herself in out suburban area.
Highlight of the changes:
- Stripped all the electronics. Added a Bafang controller (750w - 1500W peak) nd a new panel.
- Added a second battery and an electrical "load balancer"
- Added seat post suspension, offset pivot type.
- Added backseat handles for passenger's stability.
- Changed the electrical harness wire to support built-in lighting. Passed in the hollow tubing via the folding mechanism.
- Additional Headlight for night rides in trails (Very bright)
- Adding turn signals, front and back.
- Changes the PAS system for an external hall effect system. (Easier to maintain/replace)
- Extended mud guards (oversized) to limit splashing and dirt from trail rides.
